Description: Kaiser Permanente is presently looking of RN - Resuscitation - L&D (On Call) ( Job Number: 220264 ) right now, this career will be placed in Hawaii. Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluation nursing care for patients and coordinating nurses care activities with other health care disciplines.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs accurate multi-system assessments, including: b! iophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education ! needs and discharge planning needs.
  • Identifies deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests.
  • Reassesses patient throughout hospitalization.
  • Performs complete discharge assessment.
  • Develops an individual nursing plan of care.
  • Nursing plan of care is sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient.
  • Coordinates patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies.
  • Develops patient teaching plan and documents on care plan or teaching plan.
  • Appropriately delegates patient care activities based on patient's condition and scope of practice of other health care providers.
  • Establishes priorities for patient care.
  • Classifies acuity level of assigned patients.
  • Initiates appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of the medical and/or surgical patient.
  • Bases nursing care on protocol in place ! for management of each patient.
  • Correctly carries out the physician's plan of care.
  • Accurately documents in the EMR.
  • Documents care according to policy and procedure.
  • Utilizes a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate.
  • Performs all necessary procedures correctly.
  • Utilizes available teaching plans in addressing patient teaching needs.
  • Accurately calculates and administers medications.
  • Initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations.
  • Evaluates assessment methods, plan of care, and patient's response to treatment.
  • Participates in unit quality assurance activities.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation: Attends all high risk deliveries, acts as team leader for resuscitation per NRP guideline in conjunction with Pediatrician/NNP.
  • Facilitates ensuring appropriate personnel at delivery.
  • Provide newborn assessment and care.
  • Responds to compromised neonates house! wide.
  • Prioritizes work and integrates changes smoothly, workin! g in an organized manner, developing alternative solutions and resolving problems in early stages.
  • Ensures functioning of resuscitation equipment prior to each high risk delivery.
  • Cross-trains to one other perinatal unit and provides teamwork throughout all patient care areas.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Nine (9) months of experience.
  • Two (2) years LDRP/L&D or Level II/III Nursery with resuscitation experience within the last three (3) years.
  • Newborn resuscitation and stabilization experience within the last two (2) years.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Basic fetal monitoring course within four (4) months of hire if not L&D trained and have advanced fetal monitoring currently.
  • Current Oregon RN License upon hire.
  • NRP on hire.
  • STABLE within six (6) months of hire/transfer.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) fo! r Healthcare Providers CPR with AED.
  • Must cross-train to one (1) other Perinatal area with all requirements for that area.
  • Computer keyboarding skills.
  • Skills and abilities in: Maintaining and checking equipment.
  • Resuscitation and initial stabilization of newborns.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E.
  • Newborn Resuscitation Program (N.R.P).
  • Developmental Care.
  • Umbilical Vessel catheterization (UVC).
  • Lab drawing skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain and use resuscitation equipment.
  • Basic Fetal monitoring skills.
  • Newborn cardiac monitor and pulse oximetry.
  • Newborn IV skills.
  • Heel sticks/venipuncture on newborn.
  • Newborn medication administration.
  • Bili-blankets/lights.
  • Radiant warmers.
  • T Piece resuscitator.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four (4) years of LDRP/L&D, or Level II/III Nursery with resuscitation, ex! perience within the last five (5) years preferred.
  • Previous he! alth care experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
