Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children is well recognized as Hawai‘i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 20! 7 beds and 66 bassinets, the nonprofit hospital is Hawai‘i’s only specialty maternity, newborn and pediatric hospital. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency care, neonatal and pediatric air transport and pediatric specialty clinics. With a dedicated team of more than 1,300 employees and 604 physicians, the hospital is home to Kapi‘olani Women’s Center, Kapi‘olani Breast Center and Kapi‘olani Women’s Cancer Center, the state’s only dedicated breast health and gynecological cancer centers. Kapi‘olani is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility that offers numerous community programs and services, such as the Kapi‘olani Child Protection Center and Sex Abuse Treatment Center. Through its affiliation with the University of Hawai‘i, it is home to the John A. Burns School of Medicine Pediatrics and OB/GYN residency programs.
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides comprehen! sive, family-oriented care for all young patients to optimize ! health and well-being. The department provides clinical intervention to the pediatric patient requiring intensive care or advanced pediatric (step down) care, while simultaneously supporting patients and families through the Intensive Care experience. Services are available for pediatric patients with the most acute medical requirements, including the risk of organ failure and those who require continuous monitoring such as life support therapy, invasive monitoring and other critical care measures.
If you are a compassionate, sensitive caregiver and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment, you could be the ideal candidate for our Registered Nurse position at Kapi‘olani’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. You will provide nursing services through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of patient care. You will also function as an associate to a charge nurse, and eventually assume charge nurse responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai’i Registered Nurse license. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards. Two (2) years recent registered nurse experience in a critical care setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years recent registered nurse experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education, training or work experience. Critical Care Registered Nurse! certification. Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Lif! e Support (ACLS) CPR card. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) card.
