Description: Kamehameha Schools is at present looking to employ Teaching Assistant (West Hawaiʻi, Island of Hawaiʻi) right now, this job will be placed in Hawaii. Instructional: Assists in daily classroom instruction including appropriate interactions with students, small group instruction, observatio! ns and assessment. May substitute for the teacher when teacher is absent. Supervision: Supervises student behavior independently and under teacher direction using appropriate early childhood behavior management techniques, and following early childhood health and safety guidelines. Program/Clerical Support: Provides program and clerical support through planning snack menus; making home visits with teacher; maintaining attendance and other records; ordering and maintaining materials and supplies. Classroom Preparation: Prepares materials needed for a safe and healthy indoor and outdoor classroom environment, including preparing snacks daily, sanitizing serving and eating areas, and maintaining classroom centers, materials and equipment. Staff Development: Achieves and maintains CDA or higher level ECE certification. Participates in KS workshops and in-services. Attends training and is current with technology.

Position Requirements

• Have good interpe! rsonal skills with children and adults. • Able to organize a! high volume of varied work activities. • Able to lift children up to 30 pounds. • Have good written and verbal communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Education, preferably Early Childhood Education • Knowledge of, and sensitivity to Hawaiian culture • Knowledge of, and sensitivity to pre-kindergarten children • Community First Aid and Pediatric CPR certified
