Kapi'olaniMedical for Women and Children has a team ofboard-certified emergency medicine physicians. The facility isthe only pediatric emergency department in the state of Hawai'i,treating approximately 16,000 patients a year. The ER strivesto provide excellence in emergency care to pediatric patients, aswell as those needing women's services. Such servicesinclude sports injuries, infections, respiratory infections, oncologycomplications amongst many others. The emergency team istrained to diagnose patients and refer them to pediatric specialistswithin the hospital when necessary. TheRegistered Nurse provides professional nursing care throughassessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentationof patient care. Functions as an associate to a charge nurseand begins to assume charge nurse responsibilities.
