Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children is well recognized as Hawai‘i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 207 beds and 66 bassinet! s, the nonprofit hospital is Hawai‘i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency care, neonatal and pediatric air transport and children’s specialty clinics. With a dedicated team of more than 1,300 employees and 604 physicians, the hospital is home to Kapi‘olani Women’s Center, Kapi‘olani Breast Center and Kapi‘olani Women’s Cancer Center, the state’s only dedicated breast health and gynecological cancer centers. Kapi‘olani offers numerous community programs and services, such as the Kapi‘olani Child Protection Center and Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and through our affiliation with the University of Hawai‘i, we are home to the John A. Burns School of Medicine Pediatrics and OB/GYN residency programs.
The Mother Baby Care Unit offers specialized care for postpartum teen to a! dult women and normal newborns, as well as to post-GYN surgica! l women. Our highly trained and caring staff provides education to the entire family during and after the pregnancy, as well as IV therapy, fetal monitoring, diabetes education, monitoring of patients requiring bed rest for premature delivery, post-surgical C-section, regular deliveries and postpartum complications and a variety of other services. The Mother Baby Care Unit provides support to mothers and their newborns in an atmosphere that promotes bonding of the family unit.
As the Lactation Consultant-RN, you will ensure that caring, sensitive lactation information and training is provided to mothers and families of the Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. Your responsibilities include providing lactation education and management services, telephone triage and counseling to patients and members of the community. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping patients and their families, is willing to work with others in a team-oriented atmosphere and! shares a commitment to our vision of delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people. Location: Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children Work Schedule: Day/Evening - 8 Hours Work Type: Full Time Regular FTE: 1.000000 Bargaining Unit: Non-Bargaining Exempt: No Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification (must obtain within one year of hire). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (must obtain within one year of hire). Three (3) years experience providing breastfeeding education, counseling, or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
