Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at KapiÂ'olani Medical Center for
Women and Children.
KapiÂ'olani is well
recognized as HawaiÂ'i's leader in the care of women and
children. As the major teaching hospital for the stateÂ's OB/GYN
program, the facility has a highly trained team of physician
specialists, nurses, technologists and therapists that share a
special understanding of women's and childrenÂ's needs. The PICU
is dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive, and family-oriented
care for all patients with a goal to optimize health and
well-being. They provide excellent clinical intervention to the
pediatric patient requiring intensive care or advanced pediatric
(step down)! care while supporting patients and families through the
I! ntensive Care experience. Services are provided to patients
with the most acute medical requirements, including organ failure or
patients at risk of developing organ failure. Support and
education is delivered to patients and family while providing an
atmosphere that promotes bonding of the family unit.
The Registered Nurse
provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning,
implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient care.
Functions as an associate to a charge nurse and begins to assume
charge nurse responsibilities.

Requirements
Minimum
Qualifications:
Must meet education requirements for HawaiÂ'i
state licensing. Current HawaiÂ'i RN license. Current
BLS/HCP card. PALS
or PEARS. One year recent
registered nurse experience in PICU.
Preferred:
Two years recent registered nurse experience in
PICU. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field.
CCRN. NRP. ACLS.
