Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

Physician is required to be Board Certified in Family Medicine.

You will carry after-hours on-call pager as assigned. No in-house call required.

This position is a TERM position. It is temporary and may be extended up to a maximum of four years.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:
This position is located at the Troop Medical Clinic (TMC) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. You will primarily be responsible for coordinating, reviewing, evaluating and ensuring satisfactory documentation, as evidence of completion of the medical requirements, of all Pre- and Post-Deployment Health Assessments. You will ensure coordination with other Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) team members in the effective and efficient processing of Soldiers through the medical requirements of the SRP. You will serve as the Medical Officer at the TMC and be accountable to the Director of Health Services for Schofield Barracks. When you are not performing such functions, you will be responsible for the primary care of approximately 800 active duty Soldiers. The services include, but are not limited to, examination, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of medical, surgical, obstetric, gynecological, pediatric and orthopedic care.

You will examine active duty, family members, and other authorized beneficiaries to determine presence and extent of diseases and conditions, administer appropriate care and/or referral of cases requiring hospitalization or subspecialty care, perform the following procedures: toe nail removal, minor suturing, reduction of simple fracture of extremities, emergency delivery, endometrial biopsy, joint aspiration/injection, proctosigmoidoscopy, ECG performance and initial interpretation, interpretation of basic radiographs, insertion/removal of IUD, regional anesthesia, splinting/casting/immobilization of simple fractures, and crisis intervention.

You will supervise medical student/externs and other non-professional health care providers when requested. This responsibility includes medical records reviews, consultative service, and direct observation of provider. Documentation of non-professional health care providers supervision will be in accordance with Army Regulation 40-48 and other applicable guidance.

You will also provide occupational health follow-up care for Department of Army employees and coordinate complex occupational health issues with the Chief Nurse, Occupational Health Clinic.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications: • Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).] • Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. • Licensure/Certification: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States • Specialized Experience: Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess 4 years of specialized experience to include internship/residency training in the specialty of Family Medicine. This required family medicine experience/training will include skills, such as, but not limited to, a wide range of medical duties specializing in all aspects of patient care such as advanced examination, diagnosis, and treatment to ensure effectiveness of treatment. At least one year of this experience must have been at the next lower level, which would involve independent treatment of complex cases requiring advanced skills.

This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.

All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification Current Advanced Life Support of other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
